STORY OF THE WEEK

Finding Silence in the Spotlight

April 6, 2026

Growing up in a wheelchair, I never thought the stage was a place for someone like me. I spent years in the wings, watching my peers leap and twirl, convinced that my story was only meant to be told from the sidelines. But theater isn’t just about movement; it’s about the resonance of a voice, the truth of an expression. When I finally found the courage to audition for our school’s production, everything changed. I wasn’t just ‘the girl in the chair’; I was a character with a world to build. The audience didn’t see my disability first—they saw my performance. This project has given me the platform to show that inclusivity isn't an act of charity; it's an expansion of art itself. My narrative is one of many, and every week, we prove that the stage is wide enough for all of us.
